He said even though the school objected to having a gas well on the property due to safety concerns for the children, there was not much they could do since Seagull has fulfilled ODNR’s obligations.

The drilling took place before school began for the children, but the fracking is still going on.

Marshall Ford owner Larry Elk was unaware of a proposed gas well on his property.

When Seagull Development Corporation approached the city to enter into a contract for a new oil and gas well on the Marshall Ford land, Elk said he heard nothing of the matter. He found out about the proposal after reading about it in the June 24 Sun Messenger.

Seagull decided to move the proposed gas well due to prior controversy from residents.

Mayfield Heights Police Det. Chris Sonnhalter said a fraud case against Seagull is still under investigation. Tugend said even though the investigation continues concerning Seagull fraudulently signing signatures on a petition for a gas well in Mayfield Village, there is nothing that would have stopped the company from applying with ODNR.
