"We find it unbelievable that Ohio municipalities
– such as the city of Dover – have no say in whether a gas well can be drilled
within their boundaries."
"As for state law regulating the drilling of gas
and oil wells, it needs to be tightened further. ODNR should be stripped of the
power to regulate drilling in urban area, and that power should be returned to
municipal governments. We would feel a lot more secure knowing that a decision
on whether a gas well could be drilled in our back yard was in the hands of our
neighbors at city hall – and not some bureaucrat in Columbus."
