Oil well in Gates Mills leaks 1,000 gallons into Chagrin River tributary

Residents more than a mile away on Gates Mills Boulevard reported the leak.

"GATES MILLS, Ohio -- Crews spent the past two days cleaning up an estimated 1,000 gallons of oil that had leaked from a ruptured valve on a gas well at the intersection of Dorchester Road and Ohio 91.

Oil from the well seeped into streams and storm water sewers that flow into the Chagrin River."

Independent federal agency to conduct probe after fatal blast in Marion County

“An oil-pumping operation in Marion County that was the scene of a fatal explosion Sunday had been inspected nine times since 2002, most recently in June, and received good marks, a spokesman for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources said yesterday.”

Oil well tank explodes in Carroll County

 Oil burns down a hill after an explosion at an oil well site near Dellroy Thursday night.
 

Jimmy Patrick, production supervisor for Range Resources, owners of the tank, said they suspect it may have been a buildup of static electricity on the 90 barrel tank. The tank was blown about 150 to 200 feet from the original site.
